Chard Farm Mata-Au Pinot Noir 2022

The team at Chard Farm consider this their signature Pinot, with fruit coming from across their top blocks. The colour is a bright crimson, with a nose of dried herbs, spices, animal skins, warm earth notes, cherries and a range of red fruits. The wine has focus and offers good grip with early signs of complexity. Some coffee grind notes and sour cherries are more evident as we move to the palate. Silky tannins and good balance here. Five to six years ahead of it, likely more. It certainly has room for future improvement.
