Domaine de la Poultiere, ‘Les Pierres Blanches’ Vouvray 2017

Aromas of damp hessian, green apricot, paraffin, white beach sand, morning hay and summer nectarine are supported in the mouth by a steeliness to the back palate which makes it extremely engaging.  The wine is intensely flavoured, densely packed with fruit and spice. There is an interesting fruit tingle texture to the acidity, and the fruit that clusters around the acidity receptors in my mouth bursts with intensity and concentration.  The wine has decent carry over the palate, partially due to the viscose texture and it certainly lingers well after the last sip. The owners of Domaine de la Poultiere, the Pinon family, only produce either still or sparkling chenin blanc from Vouvray.  They own a total of 22ha of vineyards in the village of Vernou-sur-Brenne.
