XO Marks the Spot

Greg Clack and Kate Horstmann are making some of the most affordable, fragrant and unassuming wine in South Australia. You can feel safe knowing you’ll receive wine of depth and purity but that most importantly are drinking deliciously on release.

Chardonnay NV

2022 Small Batch Chardonnay, Adelaide Hills

Baked apples, white peach, lemon skin and yellow tulips. Crumbly shortbread, baked custard and vanilla bean. Loaded with fruit weight and generosity, the overwhelming kind you’re not quite sure how to say thankyou for. Poached quince and lemon jam, this is a Chardonnay that keeps on giving. The creamy malo softens the driving acidity, and the wine ends with a creamy nut butter finish. 92 Points

XO Rose NV

2022 Rosé Games Night

Made from Grenache and Barbera this pink diamond hued Rosé is leaping from the glass with acrobatic flips of wild strawberry, ligonberry and raspberry cordial. Watermelon slices, guava and pink grapefruit citrus. The altitude of the hills is showcased in its animated acidity and vivacity of fruit. Finishing bone dry and with a touch of turmeric and ginger. A Rosé that delights and inspires good times. Drink with Coral trout baked in the skin. 91 Points

Light Red NV

2022 Cherry Pie Light Red

32% Pinot Noir 26% Grenache, 23% Tempranillo 19% Sangiovese. The aromatics of carbonic maceration hits you with perfumed violets and rose petals. Glacé cherries and wild strawberries are complemented by autumn leaves, mace and cinnamon. The red berried fruit is crunchy and succulent, fine tannins hold the wine upright before a touch of campari bitters on the finish. This wine screams good times and good company. 90 Points

Pinot Noir NV

2022 Small Batch Pinot Noir

Sourced from 3 sites in the southern Adelaide Hills. The fragrance alone will have you swooning. Hibiscus petals, pomegranate and peony blossoms. Picked thyme bush, sweet tobacco and maple leaf. This gives you those homestyle compote vibes with the kind of fruit preserves that not only taste but feel good for you. With silky smooth tannins and pert acidity, it’s a fragrant and graceful cool climate Pinot Noir. Drink with a killer turkey, cranberry and brie sandwich. It’s old school but there is always a place for them. 91 Points

Grenache NV

2022 Grenache Small Batch, McLaren Vale

Intoxicating in the glass, this is equally fragrant of the most delicious red wine gum you’ve ever tasted as it is of that trademark McLaren Vale Grenache fragrance. Black raspberries, frozen coke with raspberry float, pine needle and crushed allspice. The wine unfurls into deeper and darker spices of clove, sumac and aniseed. It’s mid weighted as Grenache goes but lithe and vibrant too. A little varietal heat but with sappy tannins. Yes Yes Yes. Drink with seared flank steak as it has that juicy chew. 92 Points
