Mountadam made their name with Chardonnay and this is a cracking value wine that follows the family line. It is seriously complex – layers of citrus and melon fruits are given additional interest with vanillin and almond oak complexity. It is also a nod to both the old-fashioned and modern Chardonnay style on the palate – there is generous and complex fruit with oak well balanced by crisp acidity, and even little flavour hints of nougat thrown in the mix. There is good balance too that makes it delicious now and the wine is close to peak, especially with some salt and pepper squid.
