Blackstone Paddock Margaret River Chardonnay 2020

The Blackstone Paddock range is regularly home to some of the finest value wines in Australia and this Chardonnay could be the best yet under this label – red or white. It’s all about balance and well judged winemaking with impressive fruit complexity for the price lifted by a veneer of balanced oak. Mid straw with golden hints, it’s got a classic Margaret River feel with layers of nectarine and melon fruits supported by marzipan and toasty oak. The palate is then fresh, vibrant and acid driven yet also
retains good power and richness before quite a long finish. For mine this is quite a step up on the trophy-winning 2019 vintage.
