Chard Farm Eliza Vineyard Bannockburn Pinot Noir 2021

One of the most famous sub-regions in the Central Otago region is surely Bannockburn. This is a single vineyard Pinot, exclusively planted to clones 777 and 115. Pale crimson hue, it is immediately obvious that we have a Pinot offering some complexity. Spices, including a gentle whiff of pepper, dry herbs, aniseed, cherries, a hint of chinato and some slightly stemmy, undergrowth notes all find a place on the nose. This is a fine and elegant Pinot with deceptive intensity and gentle lingering tannins on a lengthy finish. The balance here is key to the success of this wine. Five to eight years.
