Domaine Naturaliste Sauvage Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Share

91% Sauvignon Blanc (24 year old vines), 9% Semillon with maturation on lees for 10 months in 500L puncheons, 1/3 in lightly toasted new French oak, and regular battonage. Heady florals with layers of intrigue and deep intensity. Tuberose, dried rose petals, exotic notes that are hard to pin down. While there is intensity, there is also delicacy. Oak shows itself alongside delicious leesy notes of pastry laced with citrus zest. This is aromatic, yet there is plenty of detailed and fine texture on the palate, both the grainy weight of the oak and the fruit phenolics. Chalky minerality weaves through fruit notes of gooseberry, lemon skin, and some very subtle saltbush. Fresh, layered, vibrant and rockpools of interest. It is one of Margaret River’s most outstanding and consistent iterations of this style and one that delivers in its youth but really comes into its own with a few years in the bottle.
