Head Wines Red Shiraz 2018

Share

The first vintage of Head Wines was in 2007, and I still have a cheeky magnum in the cellar. Alex has come a long way since then with the wines now delivering better value than ever, particular the Head Red range.

It’s Alex’s entry level wine but delivers better than that. It is quite deeply coloured and ripe with that classic Barossan generosity of ripe blackberry fruits with a healthy dose of baked earth and dried spice. The palate is plush with blueberry flavours and clovey spice, all with plenty of concentration for the price. Fruit length is good, and some supple tannins will keep it holding up for around five years. It is an everyday drink, and a good one at that.
