Sourced as all the Mitolo family wines are from the south-west corner of the McLaren Vale region, this is a bold and rustic Shiraz with plenty of varietal personality. Dark fruits, earthy tones with well-mannered oak senses in the background. The extras here come in the form of black olive and soy, as well as some Spice Island exotica – clove and star anise. It’s got big shoulders yet with a fair bit of energy for such a frame – and in this weight division neatly balanced and controlled.
