Coonawarra Shiraz stands tall with each release of Michael Shiraz. The style has changed significantly over the years, becoming more elegant, less austere. A hard act to follow from the excellent ’21 but ‘22, with its cool nights and extended ripening, has delivered a lovely, focused young Shiraz. There’s a vibrancy here, an energy emerging which will put Michael in good stead as it ages further. Dark purple hues. Tight-knit, concentrated aromas in blackberry, dark plum, bramble, liquorice, red earth. Introduces a light, black olive savouriness across the palate as black and red fruits combine with spice, but the focus remains firmly tannin bound and tight as a drum with a strong phenolic grip to close.
