Big and bold and ripe Barossa Valley Shiraz, concentrated in every part of its delivery, pushed to the limits in many senses with savoury aromas suggesting mushroom broth and black bean / soy sauces, all buried deeply in the glass, predominantly French oak spice , dark anise-like seasoning the palate until a wave of dark fruit compote appears in the final swirls, almost to the point of blackberry jam. Robust and muscly, it repays a bit of airing in a decanter to let its softer side eventually be seen. For lovers of a style designed to sit you down and warm your extremities.
