Bay of Fires Riesling 2020

Share

Bay of Fires has led the way in elevating the reputation of Rieslings from Tasmania. This example displays Tasmania at its best, showing great expression and flair. Balancing the high acidity levels with fruit weight is the main challenge and the wine achieves this and more. There is an aromatic lychee lift with hints of kaffir lime in the aroma. Its generous mid palate has a succulent texture of grapefruit and white nectarine. There is plenty to savour in every mouthful which is why I matched it up with prawn fried rice. The chunky Western Australian prawns are really meaty and the Riesling increased the fleshiness. The chilli flakes and spring onion bring out that lychee aromatic edge of the variety, making this a real feast for my taste-buds. A terrific early drinking proposition with so much interest for gastronomic affairs.
