Brand & Sons Sanctuary Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

This exquisitely presented Cabernet dominant blend with a small amount of Cabernet Franc captures so much of Coonawarra’s regional DNA. It comes off vines that are nearly 40 years old and was made by careful culling, first through the optical grape sorter and then through barrel selection and blending. It shows dark blackcurrant fruit with a layer of dark chocolate and minerally oyster shell. Tannins are slightly chalky and firm, although the fruit wraps closely so it all sits harmoniously. It’s had nearly 24 months in a mix of largely French oak so this is a wine that will handle plenty of time in the cellar.
