Corduroy Wines Black Label Chardonnay 2020

Share

Looking for a modern Australian style of Chardonnay but still with plenty of flavour? Then track down this racy Adelaide Hills example from Phil LeMessurier and Corduroy Wines. It’s still super youthful – bright medium straw in colour and beautifully reserved with layers of lemon rind plus a touch of melon with subtle high quality oak and savoury nougat barrel ferment – it’s got a real handmade feel to it and while a little closed at the moment the fruit energy and power is undeniable. The palate is then bright and fresh with a superb line of zesty acidity and punchy citrus fruits leading to a very long and fine finish. The oak stands out a bit at the moment but that will come back into perfect balance with a couple more years in bottle.
