Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc 2014

I do love what Dog Point do with their Section 94 – it’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc but like you have never seen it before. I’ve seen people shocked by this wine and send it back expecting it to be the typically fruity local style, which it certainly is not.

Released at seven years of age it is beautifully complex with the typical guava and citrus fruits of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, although now more reserved, lifted by layers of diesel, honey and spicy oak. It takes on a more savoury side in the mouth – acacia and nutty nuances with creamy lees and zippy acidity that adds some bite and provides a long finish. It screams out for fine dining and matching with complex seafood dishes.
