Hewitson Monopole Mother Vine Shiraz 2019

Share

Hewitson here own and farm (hence Monopole) this vineyard being a Sélection Clonale, sourced from one ancient surviving Shiraz vine planted in 1853 and thus, Hewitson have given life to an ancient clone of pre-Phylloxera Shiraz. Calm, bluestone base with nuances of rich blackberry, mulberry, cabbage rose heart, Easter egg chocolate and plum jam. Savoury, deeper elements of iodine, animalistic hide and ink give intrigue and a further desire to explore the nose over several hours. Exquisite flow and precision, with gossamer tannin providing a silky ride for perfectly ripe fruit before an existential affirmation of calming serenity. A simply gorgeous wine.
