Mr Riggs JFR Shiraz 2021

Share

Named after winemaker Ben Riggs’s late father John Frederick Riggs, this was Ben’s first ever Mr Riggs wine he crafted 20 years before the current release. A blend of three vineyards in different districts of the Vale regions, a tapestry wine essentially, it tells of bold, dark, ripe fruit, plenty of earthiness, richly roasted root vegetables, spices in darkish Middle Eastern mode with a generous ground black pepper note. Generous and chewy, its oak feels now relaxed into the palate along with tannins that are just prominent enough to coat the final throes rather than dominating and closing out the finish. Bold, yet with total control of its personality.
