Oliver’s Taranga Mencia 2022

Share

Each vintage, the Spanish import variety – Mencia – just gets better and better. Pronounced “men-thee-ah,” its flavour profile has been compared to Pinot Noir. In the Vale, it takes on more weight than most Pinots, soaking up the warm Mediterranean climate. In that regard, it’s more akin to Shiraz. The ’22, off a “near perfect growing season” according to the maker, boasts an enticing scent and flavour based around dusty, earthy, cranberry, red fruits and licorice. A beautifully woven young wine with arresting fruit charm, integrated oak and real presence in the glass.
