Red cherries, rhubarb, rosehip and dried cranberries. White pepper, jicama and porcini mushroom powder. There is a sarsaparilla and sweet cherry soda note to the mid palate. Which continues with some creamy coffee smoothness throughout. The wine is dainty but with good staying power. Skin tannins build over time silken but mighty. A wine that displays the force of red fruit, a core of subtle oak and long lengthy flavours. Remarkably fresh for 4 years bottle age this stands as a testament to the long ripening period of north Tasmania. Drink now with wagyu tartare or cellar for a further 3-5 years.
Shanteh cut her teeth at Sydney’s Award-Winning Quay restaurant where she worked for over a decade and was Head Sommelier from 2018 till 2022. She has been nominated for the Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year award on three occasions and claims that her experience as a Len Evans scholar as one of the highlights of her career. Shanteh hosts her own weekly podcast ‘Over A Glass’ with the Deep in the Weeds Network and spends her time writing for various publications and judging at numerous wine shows across the country.
