Pizzini Attento Pinot Grigio 2024

Share

This is Pinot Grigio but not as you know it. The grapes were grown in volcanic soils, hailing from very cool climate, high altitude vineyards at 800 metres above sea level. Hand-picked and whole bunch pressed, then fermented in aged barrels with extended time on lees to build texture and length. It’s Pinot Grigio made with the same care and attention as premium Chardonnay. The aromas dance through crisp green apple, preserved lemon, white peach and sourdough bread, with a refreshing salty minerality. In the mouth, grapefruit and green pear lead the way into a flinty, mineral wine with a slight Sicilian olive tang. The seductive creamy texture and length leave you pondering. Indeed, in a blind tasting you could easily be confused. Is it Chablis with the fresh minimality and crisp acidity? Or wait, could it be Muscadet Cru with that incredible leesy complexity? Don’t overthink it. Just pour another glass and be prepared to have your perceptions challenged. Why not buy some for the cellar? It promises to age beautifully too.
