Quin Wines Barossa Valley Mataro 2021

Share

The first Mataro from Andrew Quin and it is a very good effort. It’s a brooding wine with dense fruit and structure that needs some time in the cellar to show its best. At the moment it is a ball of muscle, cocoa and blackberry aromas wound up quite tight with that distinctive animal skin edge and older oak nicely woven in to the package. That dense style then follows through to the mouth with firm drying tannins underneath a core a robust dark berry fruit with gentle spice. It’s a chunky wine to please fans of big reds.
