A charming example of Heathcote Shiraz, and while all of its characters now exist in the tertiary realm, it still has a lot of verve. There’s a heap of prune, dried red and black of fruits, leather, spice, shoe polish and smoke, and a touch of cedar. The palate is a silky delight, with great concentration and integrated tannins, a pleasing saltiness, and an almost port-like character to it. For the price, it offers great value for an aged wine, particularly if you pair it with a nice steak or roast.
