Rob Dolan Signature Series Chardonnay 2017

Deep gold. The nose retains freshness while certainly leaning towards some characteristics from time in the bottle. Fresh lemon zest, lightly candied lemon, white gum honey, wattle blossom, an inviting chewy waxiness. Marzipan creaminess and a crumble of buttery shortbread. There’s an inkling of wet stone minerality in the background, with a slightly autumnal tone of just-picked mushroom. Bright acidity wakes the palate, yet it is tempered with melted butter and well-handled oak that frames the fruit in this mid-weight Yarra Chardy. Shades of ripe lemon, tempered with just enough of a quenching grip of preserved lemon, and some dukkah spice. A wine with plenty of energy and enjoyment, with rounded edges and a polished floor. No stumbles or caught threads here. Drink now to 2026 – the cellar time has already been done for you.
