Salomon Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Share

The connection between Cabernet Sauvignon and, here, the specific Braeside Vineyard beside the rustic Finniss River valley, upstream from Lake Alexandrina and beyond that the mouth of the Murray River and the Great Southern Ocean, is most notable. This is Austrian winemaking giant Dr Bert Salomon’s home of his New World/Australian red wine enterprise, the Cabernet variety arguably his favourite. In terms of where Cabernet shines around the world, it makes total sense here as well. This wine teems with Australian terroir, mint choc aromas entwined with black berry and currant, rich and ripe, brimming with delightful flavours underscored with sticky tannins, all built to last a decade or two yet not heavy or burdened by that potential. In other words, drink it now or in the next five years while its energy is at a peak.
