Another of the cru from the Novello commune, we see here a lot of what fascinates in the Barolo realm. Aromatics are black cherry with a subtle orange note, and an even more subtle chocolate underneath that – layered. The joy then is how the palate generates a power as if it’s all held in reserve. Compacted. You know it’s there, almost hidden, and as you sip it in you sense tannin flavours like blood lip, peppery seasoning too, as the black cherry from the start resurfaces on the finish. Beautiful Barolo tannins through and through – most engaging.
