Spring Vale Estate Pinot Noir 2018

Share

Spring Vale is one the earliest vineyards planted in Tasmania, all the way back in 1986. It is located on the Freycinet East Coast. which thanks to its warmer climate often creates quite serious, savoury and food-friendly Pinot Noir styles, as they have in 2018. These are wines for serious Pinot fans.

The 2018 vintage is a bright mid cherry colour while the fruit is brooding and reserved with beetroot, truffle and spicy aromas underlined by juicy dark cherry fruits and subtle oak – there is a real Autumn feel here. The palate is then dry and quite full-bodied – fruit is concentrated and savoury with sinewy tannins that are balanced, and give the wine genuine length while retaining a silky and spicy Pinot tail. It’s a little rustic but offers fine complexity and has the structure to improve over the next five years.
