Venturer Series Central Victorian Marsanne 2019

We’ve got a little teaser for you here – released January 2021 but worth keeping an eye out for. It’s marsanne and it is delicious.

Marsanne is one of those grape varieties that plenty of people just don’t ‘get’. The good examples are subtle and textural without the explosion of fruit from the likes of riesling, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. They also make fantastic food wines – almost growing in flavour depending on the dish to match the likes of whole backed snapper through to chicken and pork.

This Central Victorian marsanne is right in the slot with serious complexity – honeysuckle, pineapple, hay and citrus fruits. In the mouth the wine has some textural richness with rockmelon and floral fruits too. Well made, it is a great introduction to this long-ignored grape variety, which also has the potential to age well too, if you can keep your hands off it.
