Anderson & Marsh Parell Albarino 2019

Share

Anderson & Marsh is a collaboration between two leading winemakers in the Alpine Valleys – Eleana Anderson from Mayford and Jo Marsh of Billy Button. It is a very interesting take on Albarino, with some of the juice fermented in oak although it is far from obvious.

The first vintage was 2018 and this is a big step up. It is pale gold in colour and shows highly concentrated exotic and savoury fruits – there are touches of almond, lanolin and blossom overlying a core of citrus fruits. It is then dry, textural and understated on the palate – a great food wine – that still needs a bit of time to fill out. The palate is chalky and pithy in texture with a finish that lingers driven by Albarino’s juicy acidity. It is delicious and a fantastic local take on this classic Spanish variety. There are also only a hundred dozen of this wine available so you’ll have to be quick.
