Angullong Wines Fossil Hill Tempranillo 2019

Share

In all the years I have been drinking the wines from Angullong the barbera has trumped the sangiovese. But call it climate change, global warming or even just an interesting vintage, but in 2019 the tempranillo wins hands down thanks to its strong varietal character. Is this just a blip or the new norm – only time will tell….

The colour is a solid ruby and then all tempranillo’s classic fruits are on show – Christmas cake, red earth and sweet mulberry set the scene for a wine with genuine power and complexity. That all follows through on the palate, the more savoury and earthy side of tempranillo complementing a core of dark berry fruits flavours with sandy tannins helping to provide a lingering finish. Enjoy with sizzling beef.
