Bekkers TOME Vol 2. 2022

Share

Trade only bottling. The story of this vintage is expressed in volume 2 with 63% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Grenache, with Cabernet portions coming from the Clarendon Vineyard estate. A well of black fruit, Damson plum, blackberry and ligurian olive. Allspice and black peppercorn. Rosemary twig and espresso. The palate is crunchy and firmly dry with powdery tannins that extend across the whole palate. The added use of concrete tanks in conjunction with large format French oak means you are getting the brunt of bright black fruit with the lift of acidity whilst still feeling the spice and rounded mouthfeel. This feels like a long lost love child returned to the family unit, all the DNA is there but with added street smarts. Drink now and will cellar 5-8 years. A wine that would be nifty beside Shawarma meats and garlic sauce.
