Castelli Estate Mount Barker Riesling 2023

Share

While the Castelli Estate vineyard is situated near the town of Denmark, Riesling is sourced from both the Mount Barker and Porongurup regions depending on the season. The current release, from the former, is distinctively floral with intriguing offsets – yes, white blossom with some flint and saline elements providing savoury asides. Citrus notes sit between lemon and yellow grapefruit, their acidity splashing outwards rather than the variety’s more usual straight and linear central lane through the palate. This results in a pleasing minerally rather than puckering finish – a unique style that reflects the wine’s regional origins.
