This sixth edition of the newish Bollinger Blanc de Noirs is made of up 48% from the warm 2020 vintage from the village of Tauxières on the Montagne de Reims with the balance shared between 2019 tank aged wines and magnums from 2012 and 2008, which make up over 25%. It is not flashy or overly expressive to start but, if you look long enough, its genuine quality starts to emerge. Yes the riper 2020 vintage shows with the slightly broad aromatic quality yet there is also delightful detail in the pear tartin aromas lifted by touches of oak spice. Creamy and mouthfilling with a beautiful silky bead, chalky acidity is then well integrated through the long, sustained and open-knit finish. Drinking superbly yet also has the substance and fruit weight to age well over the medium term.
