Charles Renoir Red Burgundy Gamay 2018

Share

If you don’t know Burgundy, it is a region in Eastern France which makes some of the top Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in the world – bar none. People mortgage their houses just to get a bottle or two of the best wines. But Burgundy has a little secret, it also creates very pretty and silky light weight Gamay, which you could almost class as a Rosé, like this cheeky wine from Charles Renoir.

It’s the ultimate Summer red. It smells like a bowl of freshly picked berries and tastes like it too, in a dry and crisp style. But the wine also has a little bit of savoury French style, a touch of earth, spice and green herbs, to give it some real interest. Serve it lightly chilled for maximum refreshment.
