Luigi Vico De Dulci in Fundo Dolcetto 2018

No retiring violet of a Dolcetto here with this a very serious version from an often undervalued grape variety. It opens with a deep colour backed by compact and concentrated aromas of tar, blackberry and meaty fruits supported by old oak with nice touches of animal fur complexity. It is followed by a juicy and powerful palate – sweet dark cherry and earthy fruits underpinned by mouth coating tannins that support some quite serious length. It’s still probably best enjoyed as a youngster but feel free to match it up with richer dishes, such as beef ragout.
