Château Tanunda 50 Year Old Vine Shiraz 2022

Share

Handpicked fruit off the estate vineyard in Vine Vale. Basket pressed and matured in a  combination of new and seasoned French oak for 18 months. There is a well of mulberry and Christmas cherries. This is a wine you’ll peer into its depths for hours, discovering something new over time. Decant if you can or use your large Claret glasses. There is some soft licorice and melted choc buds. A hint of black pepper and fresh bay leaf. A palate that makes Marvin Gaye feel rigid. There is a supportive woven fabric of tannins but so well folded into the wine, it will slide across your palate. A touch of maple bark and twiggy savouriness. This is a grand wine but incredibly chic at the same time. Drink now or it will cellar very well over 10-15 years further, as is its complexity. This calls for lamb shanks and creamy polenta.
