Chateau Tanunda Mattiske Shiraz 2021

Share

Barossa Shiraz from the famed Stonewell sub-region, in a vineyard adjacent to Mattiske Road, the grapes were destemmed but not crushed before fermentation, then spending a week on skins. As has been said many times but it always bears repeating, 2021 is a great vintage for the region. Inky purple hue, the nose offers mocha, black fruits, soy, bergamot, cloves, licorice and chocolate. This is from the big and bold end of the Barossa Shiraz spectrum. We see coffee bean notes emerge on the palate complimented by fine tannins, though plenty of them. A wine of good balance and excellent length. Like it a lot and I am in no doubt that it will drink very well over the next decade. This is built for the cellar.
