Unusual to find a Rhône-style blend from the Hemel-en-Aarde. Creation also does a single varietal viognier as well as a grenache blanc, roussanne blend. Certainly a point of difference for the chardonnay and pinot dominated region. Grapes are hand-harvested. 70% viognier fermented in stainless steel to off-set its peachy, stonefruit exuberance, barrel-ferment for the roussanne, adds a gentle line of creamy texture. The body is supple with a nutty, peachy core, refreshed by a curl of lemony acid tapering to lift of white pear on the finish. Well-balanced, clean, with plenty of interest.

Malu is a regular on South Africa's judging panels, including Winemag, Wine-of-the-Month Club and was recently the chairperson for the inaugural Fine Wine Awards by Amex. She also judges for Decanter, IWSC and Concours Mondial du Sauvignon.
