Represents the warm 2018 vintage, considered a top year in the Pyrenees, extremely well. There is a liberal amount of oak on display in keeping with the generosity and richness of the vintage and the fruit produced. Fortunately, it’s in balance and there’s also plenty of nuance to be explored. Blackstrap licorice, black fruits, gum leaf, a flash of attractive peppermint are joined by layers of earth, leather, shoe polish and attractive savoury notes. The scent alone will entice. This is one complex, lovely wine, warm and round, chocolatey and black fruited on the palate with additional and discreet charcuterie notes. A real meal in a glass kind of wine. Keep that mind when considering a suitable dining accompaniment – this wine demands something equally larger than life.
