A briar of blackberries, mulberry and hints of blueberry. Clove studs, allspice and rosemary stem. Peppermint dust, dark chocolate and Assam tea leaf. Youthful, so much so it needs a bit longer in bottle to show its full plumage. It’s taut and terrific, not a hair out of place. Savoury tree bark and cassia bitterness on the back palate with lovely grape and oak tannins and firm acidity. This will last an eon in your cellar, delightful drinking now but I encourage you to put a case away for say 15-20 years. Those caraway, chocolate and cedar notes will develop and change and it will be a delight to uncover. Serve with Châteaubriand and red wine sauce.
