Adelaide Hills 13.2%. Let’s first talk about the name, a nod to the Greek God of the sun, music and poetry amongst other universal matters, and interpreted by philosophers to represent qualities of serenity, balance, poise and harmony. Does this apply to the wine carrying its name? In parts, yes, given that we are drinking Adelaide Hills Chardonnay with five year’s maturity – a rare opportunity to experience how the variety out of a cool-climate region ages with ease, and given the right stuff in place, with grace and unbridled energy. Here we have a Chardonnay expression in the fuller fruit, richer palate zone, peach and ripe persimmon flavours with a delicate underlying grapefruit tang and faint oak notes in the finish. Old school Chardonnay for those who prefer that style.
