Seppelt St Peters Exceptional Vineyard Grampians Shiraz 2022

Share

Another star performance from St Peters delivering a nicely nuanced interpretation of Grampians Shiraz from a cool vintage, bringing out some beautifully fragrant Aussie bush, wildflower, bay leaf, anise spice amid compelling blackberry, black cherry and bramble fruit. Each vintage, the wine seems to be better served by oak, in that the role of new oak in particular is less obvious, performs less of a starring role that it might have once enjoyed which, in turn, allows the fruit – now sourced from three blocks – to shine. And shine it does in layer after layer of flavour with black fruit and spice, pepper, woodsy earthy notes and a gentle cured meat savouriness. Complexity-plus with age on its side thanks to supple but fine edged tannins.
