There’s a lot to love in this wildly exotic yet reassuringly comforting Chardonnay: dried pineapple, nashi pear, cashew cream and brioche buns. It has all the characteristics of a big wine, yet it presents as reserved and intelligent. In the mouth, the fruit is abundant and enchanting, with apricot, preserved lemon peel and a little sassy slap of bitterness on the finish. It would suit a home-cooked roast chicken. Or the bagged kind. Either way, make sure it’s stuffed with bread. It’s definitely a grower, not a shower. It needs time to come out. Decant if drinking now.
