The Lance Vineyard Cabernet is approaching its 50th year – it was planted in 1976 – and is definitely old vine in status. This is a confident, assured youngster, still a little arms and legs, but the basis for a complex wine is already set, it just needs time to fill out. Remains true to its variety in concentrated black cherry, black berry, cranberry, earth, gentle herbs with an ongoing leafy complexity. A whisper of eucalypt adds a bright note. The palate is marked out in strong tannins, nicely even, before finishing cherry pip dry.
