This 2018 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is quite a serious and ageworthy style, again showing that the Pyrenees, when it gets Cabernet right, can turn out some very impressive examples in the good vintages. There is a real tension, focus and purity appropriate for a reserve bottling as evidenced by waves of leafy blackcurrant and cedary fruits with oak a little better balanced and integrated than in the Reserve Shiraz. The palate is more tightly coiled and savoury – robust upfront earthy, blackberry fruit flavours are bound up in a mid weight frame before delivering a sustained and quite elegant finish. It will be at its peak from five years of age and then drink well for around a decade.
