Gundog Estate The Chase Semillon 2021

There is only one word to describe The Chase in 2021 – classic – and a fantastic example of what the Hunter Valley does so very well. What marks it as close to the top of its class is the precision, focus and balance of concentrated fruit that is just sitting on the runway waiting to take off over the next decade and more.

The pale, almost watery colour shows its youthful vitality which is then followed by what is currently reserved and understated fruit – sunflower soap, citrus and straw aromas all tightly coiled. The palate is then a picture of concentrated citrus flavours wth touches of lanolin yet retains a silky feel before a line of firm acidity drives it to a long and precise finish. It’s nowhere near its peak so try to give the wine ten years, if you can.
