Hardys HRB Cabernet Sauvignon D691 2019

Under cork, this is a blend of fruit from Margaret River (50%), Coonawarra (29%) and Frankland River (21%). A powerfully aromatic style, this is an opaque maroon hue. The fragrance runs through spices, bay leaves, coffee grinds, cloves and even hints of axle grease. The oak is deftly handled, and the palate moves to a more savoury style with hints of warm earth, mushrooms and cigar boxes. The wine has energy and focus, with good length, fine acidity and sleek yet firm tannins. Poised and taut, this will be better in twelve months and then drink impressively for a decade.
