Harewood Estate Reserve Shiraz 2015

Here we have a super wine that displays the potential of Great Southern Shiraz. It has been made with a blend of fruit from Frankland River and Mount Barker giving not only the deep flavours of Frankland but with the more subtle spicy side of Mount Barker also adding attractive detail.

What I enjoyed most about this wine is the layer after layer of complexity that slowly emerges with time in the glass. The colour and flavour profile is showing a bit of development – blackberry, spice and tarry aromas are now supported by earth and truffle. That bit of time in bottle has also made for a composed palate with more granite, white pepper and meaty flavours underpinned by some chewy but balanced tannins that support a long finish. It’s a cracker just starting to hit its peak that will drink beautifully over the medium term.
