This multi-vintage sparkling is the more accessible style of two sibling Marlborough traditional method bubblers – the other being a 2016 Vintage and racier in character. Here the immediate attractions are lovely orchard florals and cream biscuit notes to the nose, which swirl again as you sip. Three years on lees adds some texture in the mousse and there is a dainty touch of gastronomic tonic bitters in the flavour spectrum, adding interest and complexity. All its goodness and flavour persist, lemon and tonic suggestions lingering most satisfyingly. A lovely aperitif style.
