Heirloom Vineyards Alcala Grenache 2021

A stunning modern expression of Australian Grenache that is built for the long haul, it opens with superb fruit purity although remains a little tightly wound with red liquorice and liqueur cherry primary fruits lifted by more savoury earth and spice elements, all of which show impressive focus. The palate then shows great energy and drive with dark berry and roasted meat flavours topped by stalky spice with a savoury tannin twist to finish. The whole package is rolled up tight and needs some years to come together but it promises significant drinking pleasure over at least the next decade.
