Henschke Stone Jar Tempranillo 2019

Share

Sometimes it must be hard being a Henschke – expectations are high for each and every wine. So I might be a little hard on this wine but you’ve got to tell it as you see it. Bright mid cherry in colour this is a pretty and subtle style of tempranillo with red raspberry, earthy, spicy fruits that are quite forward and fleshy. There is underlying power but you do get the feeling that this wine is close to its best. It’s then dry and juicy with some savoury baked earth complexity and supple tannins that balance the layers of sweet fruit. A good wine but not one its best vintages.
